Professional Bio
Having retired from teaching (high school, college, technical training), I have a real-world respect and appreciation for members of our educational community, in particular teachers and college faculty. I believe that educators are a critical link between our cultural heritage and our children's future.
I know from experience that teachers and faculty are overworked and underpaid. I know that they do not have the time spend to find or sell their homes.
My mission is to help them (and of course their friends and relatives) in what is often a stressful situation--buying or selling a home. I'm offering to do their Home Work.

Paul is a data-driven professional whom I would recommend without hesitation if you're searching for a house. He was very patient with us as we took our time (over a year!) during our house hunt. He is an excellent sounding board for ideas when you're unsure of what you want and will help you avoid pitfalls; at other times, he's all ears and will faithfully carry out your instructions. Paul's background as an academic is very complementary here: there's no touchy feely "I can sense the market" claims with Paul. His research is backed by hard data, and he isn't afraid to say, "I don't know" when the data just aren't available.

Gil and I want you to know how much we enjoyed working with you when we decided to try to find a house on Bainbridge Island. As you know, we have moved several times over the years as Gil's career has taken us to many places. We have dealt with many realtors, and, believe me, you are right up there at the top of the list.
It is very important to find someone who will pay attention to a customer's needs and you did that well. As a consequence, you showed us homes that were in our price range and in the locations of interest to us. We felt we wasted no time, which was important to us. We also appreciated all of your follow-up efforts such as help with inspections and all the details to be taken care of for the closing. You went above and beyond the call of duty!
Please feel free to use our names as references."

Dear Paul,
Thank you for all the help you have given me during the listing and sale of my condominium.
I especially appreciate the information and advice you have provided, and the daily updates you shared with me that helped keep me in the loop. The information you provided me both via email and phone plus your blog helped me feel secure in the knowledge that someone was "watching out" for my interests during the entire time my home was on the market.
Your financial knowledge of the real estate marketplace was extremely helpful and welcome when I was considering a marketing price for our home. The estimated seller's net proceeds breakdowns you worked out helped explain exactly what I could expect to receive at various selling price options. You calculated and showed me settlement costs, mortgage costs and other miscellaneous costs so I had a clear picture of what I should expect.
Your expert counseling regarding the marketing price helped to sell our home as quickly as possible. The real estate sales climate during the time we had out home listed was extremely competitive but your guidnace in setting a price gave our home an edge that helped it sell while other competing properties remained unsold.
Your assistance and professionalism has been invaluable to me during this process. I can very easily recommend you to others who are in the market looking to either purchase or sell property.
Again, thank you so much. I greatly appreciate the generous offers of help and support during a challenging transition for me.
Best regards," - Penny Sluis, Bainbridge Island

At age 32 we had never owned a house or property before. We didn’t know where to begin the whole process. A board member of the Bainbridge Historical Society (I was the Director) referred me to Paul Pival of Prudential Northwest’s Poulsbo office.
Paul laid our concerns to rest and exceeded all of our expectations.
We told Paul what we wanted and he found it where we didn’t think it could be found--not in our price range anyway. Paul explained things to us clearly and patiently, and he didn't hesitate to show us anything we wanted to see. He didn’t hold back though, and told us when he thought that we were looking at something that might not work and explained why.
Paul listened to everything we said to him and to each other. From our reactions to houses we saw and through our discussions with him he was able to help us see our priorities.
When our perfect house showed up Paul was absolutely poised for action. He found our little dream house in the woods and on Bainbridge Island, the community we were convinced we couldn’t afford. Paul saw the house as soon as it was listed. We were the first buyers to tour the house, and we loved it. From offer to inspection to closing the entire process could not possibly have been smoother.
Paul is professional, but he is also a joy to be around. Friendly and cool with a great sense of humor, someone we didn’t mind spending a lot of time with in the car!
If you are looking for your dream home we recommend that you work with Paul. He will come through for you, rest assured."
